Welcome Back to School!

Dear Carnation Families,

Welcome back to school! I am thrilled to see all your smiling faces again. It is truly an honor to lead the Carnation school community, filled with outstanding students, incredible educators, and highly supportive families. My commitment remains to foster a welcoming, supportive, and safe environment where students feel empowered to learn, grow, and take risks as learners.

The team at Carnation has been hard at work preparing for the 2024-2025 school year. I want to give a huge shout-out to our custodians, Margaret Myers and Rosa Amador, for deep cleaning the building; to our office manager, Heidi Stauffer, for ensuring we have all the supplies we need; and to our registrar, Jacqueline Smith, who has tirelessly updated Qmlativ for student placement in classes. Cheers also to our dedicated teachers who have attended summer classes on new technology platforms and engaged in professional learning team collaboration. The Carnation teachers will continue their professional development throughout the school year to enhance our students' learning experiences.

Please join me in extending a warm Carnation Tiger welcome to our new team members:

  • Mary Beth Babcock – Fourth Grade Teacher

  • Amy Glover – Fifth Grade Teacher

  • Mark Ward – PE Teacher

  • Mallory Benitz – Art Teacher

  • Jolene Gayle – Resource Room Teacher

  • Anusha Sethuraman – Developmental Preschool Teacher

  • Ashley Opitz – School Psychologist

  • Adam Del Rosso – Dean of Students

Be sure to greet these new staff members and help them feel at home. I would also like to express my gratitude to our returning staff who are taking on new roles:

  • Holly Pudwill moving to kindergarten

  • Dawn Green moving to 2nd Grade PAT

  • Brooke Baker moving to 3rd Grade

  • Kelly Clifford moving to 3-4 Grade PAT

We have some exciting updates for our school! We’ve added swings to our playground and a new blacktop. Most exciting of all, our Salmon Mural is now complete! The Carnation PTSA and Lee Arts Foundation will be hosting a celebration on Monday, September 2nd, at 4:00 pm. I am incredibly proud of our students, staff, and volunteers who worked on this project, and I look forward to celebrating our accomplishments together.

During the 2024-2025 school year, my hope is that we will work together to provide the students of Carnation with the best possible opportunities, preparing them to be successful learners and community members. As your proud Carnation Principal, I always welcome your input. Please feel free to reach out to me by email at frankm@rsd407.org or by phone at 425-844-4553. Once again, I look forward to partnering with you as we navigate through this school year!

In partnership,

Michelle L. Frank
